Yes. All prescriptions — including repeats — require an appointment with a GP.

Do all doctors offer phone consultations?

Accepted Answer

Not all. Currently Dr de Villiers, Dr Mann, Dr Sandhu, Dr Singh, Dr Nicolene and Dr Shadab are the GPs offering phone consults.

Can I book a long appointment?

Long (20-minute) appointments are booked at the doctor's request. The exceptions you can book directly are Mental Health Care Plans and paperwork.

Do you still run a Saturday clinic?

No — as of June 2026 we no longer offer a Saturday clinic. Nightingale Clinic offers select Saturdays. Otherwise, if you need medical attention on a weekend, please attend the MDHS Urgent Care Centre, use the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) online from home, or call 000 in an emergency.

Can I book in for an ear clean?

All procedures, including ear syringing, need to be approved by a GP before being booked with our nurses — so you'll need a GP appointment first.

Can my results be released to me without seeing the GP?

Accepted Answer

Reception staff can't release any details of a result, but they can tell you its status: 'no action' means the GP is happy with the result, and 'doctor to advise' means please book a non-urgent follow-up appointment.

Can my call be put through to the GP, or a message passed on?

Our GPs can't take calls or messages during consulting. All clinical enquiries need an appointment — either in person or over the phone.

Question 9

Do you bulk bill?

Yes — all eligible Medicare and DVA card holders are bulk billed. Exclusions apply for skin checks and private medicals/reports, which attract a private fee.

Is the GP running late?

We recommend calling before your appointment — reception can tell you how your doctor is running for time and suggest when to come in.

Why is the GP running late?

Our GPs also service the MDHS Urgent Care Centre and are occasionally called across to assist with emergencies. We're also a teaching practice — our doctors supervise other GPs, interns and medical students. Both can put the day behind schedule, and we appreciate your patience.

Do I have to see an intern or medical student?

No. If your GP has an intern or medical student working with them, you're welcome to decline and ask to see only the GP. Your GP comes in to every consultation involving an intern or student, so you'll see your doctor regardless.

I have chest pain or difficulty breathing — can I see my doctor?

Please don't attend or call the clinic — we are not an emergency centre. If you have chest pain or difficulty breathing, call 000 or attend your nearest Urgent Care Centre.
